TOTD: Heartbreak

You fight for it. Made the changes and altercations for it to work. The negotiations and take the reciprocation and the unearthed inaction of what we truly want. They walk away. Never really revealing how they truly felt but they knew you were breathing and beating for every breath they took became another part of you. Bottled up inside and put on a shelf to be guarded as a priceless gem. The feelings you had were dragged with them and they truly knew you by the way your tears roll down your face as all you see is their back.

ITried So Hard

© Whitney Barton
I tried so hard.
I tried my best.
I gave you my all,
and now there’s nothing left.

You stole my heart,
then tore it in two.
Now I’m falling apart,
and don’t know what to do.

Divided by decisions,
burned by the fire.
Confused by your words.
Tempted by desire.

I’m living in the present.
My mind is on the past.
Not knowing what I’ll lose.
Not knowing what will last.

Blinded by fear.
Drowning in doubt.
Struggling to be free.
Looking for a way out.
