After Alex’s father’s death, she felt that she was going to struggle through with the support of her best friend Becca. However, Becca was just as close to Alex and her family but only knew of one way to console that despair and slept with Alex’s on-the-verge-of-breaking-up-anyway boyfriend Davis. Alex asked for time and spent the entire summer avoiding Becca, ultimately deciding she would forgive her when they got back to school in the fall.

Needless to say, that’s not how things went. Becca winds up being diagnosed with cancer. As pure guilt, Becca gets Alex involved in a bucket list;

Um, no, I think it means all the things you can do before you kick the bucket. Which, actually, I think it’s an allusion to suicide, right? Like, kicking the bucket out from under your feet while you hang. Or maybe somebody else is kicking out the bucket?

The Fuck-It List. Noble, but with a hint of edge to it.

Becca wants Alex to accomplish some of the tasks – living through her.

The F-It List is a fun, slightly morbid, but extremely enlightening as the two girls find love, learn about life, and become much better (healthier) people for it.
